DIY Wedding Ceremony Flags With Cricut And Martha Stewart

Almost everyone plans a reception exit for their wedding but I have always been more interested in ceremony exits. Your ceremony takes place during the day so it is a much better time to get pictures than after your reception when it’s dark and some guests have gone home. Plus, after your ceremony everyone has a rush of emotions and it’s the perfect time to wave a flag and scream yay! I am teaming up today with Cricut and Martha Stewart to create the perfect wedding ceremony flags. This project is made so easy thanks to the Cricut® Explore Air 2 Martha Stewart Edition and the Cricut + Martha Stewart mixed materials packs exclusively from Michaels. I used two different packs, the Midnight Coral and Gilded Tea Rose packs. These mixed materials packs are designed with brides in mind and feature shades of pink, white, and gold! Supplies you Will Need

Cricut Explore Air 2 Martha Stewart Edition only available at Michaels Stores
Cricut Martha Stewart Essential Tool Set, Gold
Cricut EasyPress 2 Martha Stewart Edition
Midnight Coral and Gilded Tea Rose mixed materials packs
Cricut 12×12 Cutting Mat
Thick White Felt

Ribbon (I used two different shades of mauve) Cut your thick felt into triangles. You can also purchase felt flags pre-cut if you prefer. To create these wedding ceremony flags I printed the Martha Stewart flower pattern three times for one flag. (#M92D6102 in Design Space) And I used Chalkboard font in Design Space for the wording. Load your iron on vinyl shiny side down into your Cricut Explore Air 2 Martha Stewart. Remember to mirror your image and then press the flashing Cricut button to cut.Once your Cricut has cut your design use your tool set to weed the negative space. This pattern may seem daunting but it is actually quite easy to weed. Arrange your flower pattern to your liking on the felt flag. Make sure to leave room on the left side for your wooden dowel. Set your Cricut EasyPress 2 Martha Stewart Edition to the temperature of your heat transfer material. (Click here for an easy temperature guide.) Place your iron on vinyl and apply firm pressure with your EasyPress for 3 seconds. Carefully remove the liner. Then place your second layer of iron on (the “yay” layer) on top of your flower layer. Make sure to cover any exposed areas of the flower pattern with liner or they will burn. Then apply firm pressure with your EasyPress for 10-15 seconds. (Click Here for an article on Cricut’s website with iron on layering advice.)Once your iron on vinyl layers have been applied it is time to attach the wooden dowel to your wedding ceremony flag. Flip your flag over and place the wooden dowel parallel to the edge of your flag. Use a hot glue gun to spread glue along the length of your felt flag. Then roll the felt around the dowel. Once rolled secure with an extra dollop of hot glue.Tie ribbons to the tops of your wedding ceremony flags to complete! These DIY ceremony flags will make a fun addition to your ceremony and are sure to look good in pictures!
