This seaside wedding combines delicate patterns and blush tones to create a coastal celebration that is both modern and glamorous. London and Austin chose to hold a destination wedding at the Shoals Club in Bald Head Island, NC as the island has long been a vacation home for the brides family. The bride worked closely with Watters to create a custom blush wedding gown to compliment her red locks and the result is mesmerizing! Shauna Loves Planning crafted a wedding that was unique to the couple yet complimented the coastal scenery while Rachel Red Photography captured everything to perfection including the couples unique getaway car which just happened to be a Rolls Royce golf cart!
How did you meet? We’ve actually known each other since we were 16 and had been family friends for years. When we were in college, Austin was pressured to ask me out, and the rest is history.
What is your proposal story? We were in NYC on a trip with Austin’s family, and I really wanted to visit the New York Public Library (because I love books and love to read). We went to the Library one night, and I walked into a room to look around. When I walked back out, Austin was on one knee with a Kate Spade book clutch that said ‘Marry Me.’ I of course cried and immediately called my parents to let them know. I was very excited but also a little sad that my family wasn’t there to celebrate in person. Little did I know, Austin had that handled as well. When we went to dinner (at the Library Hotel of course), my parents were there waiting. I was blown away that he had thought of every little detail. It was perfect in every way.
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding: We knew we wanted to get married on Bald Head Island because it is a special place for me. My grandparents live there, and I’ve grown up going there for vacations. The Village Chapel is the perfect place for an intimate ceremony, and really, you can’t get married on BHI and not be in view of the beach, which is why we knew we had to go with the Shoal’s Club. We wanted to have an elegant and timeless wedding that also was a little different than the norm. I mean, I did wear a colored dress after all!
What was most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip? The most important part of the wedding planning process was creating an entire weekend that was perfect for ourselves and our guests. From the rehearsal dinner, to the welcome party, to the ceremony and reception, our entire weekend was about bringing us together as a couple and bringing together all of our friends and family. I would say I splurged on the photography and skipped on the stress. I chose amazing vendors and trusted them completely and truly was able to live each and every moment of our wedding to its fullest.
