How To Make A DIY Monogram Leather Card Case

It’s no secret that I love gifts that are cute and functional. So when I spotted these leather card cases I knew they would make the perfect DIY bridesmaids gifts! In fun spring patterns and with an added monogram these leather card cases are a cute little gift. Even better – you could fill these card cases with fun gift cards for an even bigger gift! Read on below to learn how to make DIY monogram leather card cases for your girls!

I shop at Target at least three times a week and if I’m honest sometimes it’s more than that! When I’m there I always stop at the Target Bullseye’s Playground located right at the entrance. This section has little items priced $1-$5 that make fun little gifts and often there are lots of items there that make great blanks for DIY’s. The other day I found these patterned leather card cases for $3 each. (While you can shop a few of the items from this section online I couldn’t find the link to these exact card cases so suggest heading to your local Target for them.)These DIY monogram leather card cases are super easy to create with a Cricut. First, type up your monograms in Cricut Design Space. I used the block lettering Cricut Sans. I really love the block monogram trend happening right now and knew that this style of monogram would look eye-catching on top of pattern. (click here for our DIY monogram bottle openers) Create duplicates of every monogram. Once you have typed up all of your monograms use your Cricut to cut them out on iron-on vinyl. (Make sure to mirror your image before cutting!)Weed the negative space from each letter.Decide where you would like to position your monograms.If you purchase the same card cases I did from Target they are made from the same material as these DIY makeup bags I made. It’s more of a faux leather and this material can easily melt when heated too much. If using a different material use this handy guide to determine the setting of your EasyPress. Preheat your card case for 5 seconds. Then place your base monogram. (The base is whichever monogram you want as the bottom “shadow” color.) Set your EasyPress to 280 degrees. Apply firm pressure for about 3 seconds and then peel the liner off warm. Next place your second monogram layer. Add this layer a little to the right so you get the nice “shadow” effect. Apply firm pressure on your EasyPress and heat for 15 seconds. Peel off warm.
