I wear baseball caps all the time at the beach and one of my favorites is a worn in hat with a simple white monogram. It got me thinking how cute monogram hats would make for a bachelorette party gift. You could wear them while at the beach or pool or simply while hanging out. These DIY monogram hats are super easy to make and when customized with each bridesmaids initial they make a sweet and thoughtful gift. You can make these ahead of time to surprise your girlfriends or make a fun DIY night out of it! Read on below to learn the easy steps to make these DIY monogram hats for your bachelorette party!
I searched high and low for the perfect baseball hats and eventually ordered these baseball hats as I really like the faded worn-in look. These are sometimes also referred to as Dad caps. I ordered the grey and navy but think the coral would also be fun for these varsity hats.
Supplies You Will Need:
Baseball Hats
Cricut Machine
Rotary Blade
Fabric Grip Mat
Thick Felt
Needle and Thread
What makes these DIY monogram hats so easy is that your Cricut machine does about 90% of the work. To create the monograms simply open Design Space and type out letters using the Varsity font. I adjusted the size of my letters to be about 2″ tall and 1.3″ wide. To adjust the size of the letters simply press the lock icon on the top bar where it says size. (I have circled this in the image below.)Next, place your felt onto a fabric grip mat and load into your Cricut machine. I used a thicker white felt that I found at Michael’s for around $1 a sheet. One large piece of felt will go a long way and unless you have 20 bridesmaids this is probably all you will need! Set your material to felt and then choose the pressure from the drop down menu. If you are using thin felt then the default pressure is fine but for anything thicker I would recommend selecting more pressure. For felt you have the option to cut with the knife blade or rotary blade. I chose to use my rotary blade. If you choose that option make sure to select rotary blade in the tools section.
Press the flashing Cricut button on your machine and watch your monograms come to life! Once all of your letters have been cut simply remove the felt from your fabric mat.
Place your monogram in the middle of your baseball hat and secure with a little bit of fabric glue. You can also use a needle and thread to attach your monogram. I just found gluing to be way faster!
Now your monogram baseball hat is complete and ready to be worn! I just think these custom baseball hats would make such a fun addition to a bachelorette party! Make sure to tag us with #coastalbridediy if you make these monogram hats!
