Today she has put together two pastel outfits that are ideal for an engagement shoot and would look good on everyone. Read on below to learn how you can achieve her chic southern style for your engagement!

Southern Meets Chic: Engagement pictures are one of the most exciting photo shoots you will ever do! Typically, this is the first time that you and your fiancé have been in front of a professional photographer and camera together. This can be a blast, but can also be a little intimidating. The pictures may be used for your save the dates or displayed at the wedding, so there can be a lot of pressure for them to look perfect. I will let you in on a little secret, if you get your outfits right and you and your fiancé are in love, then y’all will look amazing in your photos. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you when picking what to wear for your engagement session.

You MUST be comfortable in what you’re wearing. No, I’m not talking sweatpants and Ugg boots comfortable. You need to feel like yourself, but the best version of yourself. If you are not happy in what you’re wearing, that will show through on the pictures and vice versa.

Consider the time of year and location. Obviously, you shouldn’t be taking fall pictures in a sundress or summer pictures in boots. Dress for the season. Also, think about where you’re having the pictures taken. If it’s walking through downtown, dress things up a little. If it’s in a field or on a plantation, keep it more casual with a sundress and cowboy boots.

Bring at least two outfits for both you and your fiancé. I suggest doing a casual look and a dressy look. Because, who doesn’t love to get dressed up and do a photo shoot every once in a while? You can see my casual look is still very nice and put together though. For my man, I would dress him in a nice button down, shorts and loafers. As for the dressy look, I wore a cocktail dress (but not too sexy) and I would have my fiancé in a button down, jacket, tie or bow tie and khakis with a pair of nice shoes.

Wear classic styles that you won’t regret four or five years down the road. I’m not suggesting to be boring, but don’t wear super trendy clothing that will look dated in years to come. Stick with solid colors and classic silhouettes. A great way to show off your personality on top of this is with accessories. Wear a fun necklace that compliments your top or dress! Also, a great pair of shoes can go a long way!

Make sure yours and his clothes are in pristine condition before the shoot. Take his jacket and your nice dress to the dry cleaner if they’ve been worn before. Be sure there are no holes or stains on any of the items. Most importantly, iron or steam everything! There is nothing that looks worse than a gorgeous couple, in a cute outfit, but with wrinkles all over. It can really take away from your pictures and put the focus on something negative instead of your and your fiancé in love!

Lastly, some beauty tips. This is a fabulous time for you to do your hair and makeup trial. It is something that you most likely have to do anyways {and if not you should} and it takes the pressure off of you to try to make yourself up the day of pictures. It is also a great time for your photographer to tell you if any makeup needs to be more subtle or more dramatic for the big day. Don’t forget to get a manicure {and pedi if your toes show} because there will be a lot of focus on that pretty new rock on your finger in engagement pictures. Now, we can’t forget about the fiancé. You need to make sure that he’s got his grooming together for pictures also. Whether that involves a haircut, beard trim or neck shaving, just make sure he’s looking dapper as well.
