Romantic Lowcountry Affair // Trina + Burke

May 25, 2016

Weddings don’t get much more romantic than today’s Charleston affair at River Oaks. The intimate venue was the perfect setting for this local couples wedding where personalized details took center stage. Cute photos of the bride and groom as children were hung from the back of ceremony chairs and Saveurs Du Monde Cafe created a gorgeous towering Croquembouche wedding cake. A light sprinkling of rain fell just as their ceremony was starting creating a quiet, misty scene. (And promising years of good luck!) Ellis Photo Studio’s images will leave you breathless as they expertly captured the emotion of this couples magical day. Preppy Coastal Charleston Wedding // Julia + Kyle

July 15, 2015

Here at Coastal Bride we get pretty excited over anything nautical. Well today’s gorgeous wedding full of preppy coastal details and emotional images by Ellis Photo Studio stopped us in our tracks. The couple diy-ed the majority of their wedding giving it a personal touch. From the driftwood place cards the bride lovingly collected over the year to the ceremony arch of cotton and driftwood which the groom handmade, impressively without using any nails or power tools! A-Lisk Events perfectly planned this Charleston affair at the Creek Club at I’on and we promise the beaming images below will leave you grinning from ear to ear! DIY Driftwood Candle Holder

February 18, 2015

Today I  am going to show you how to create an easy and stylish DIY driftwood candle holder. With only a handful of materials this DIY is super simple and would add a nice coastal touch to a tablescape or could be a sweet gift. Please keep in mind that driftwood is flammable so never leave your candles unattended! Read on below to learn how to make this driftwood candle holder.Driftwood Candle Holder
What You Need To Create Driftwood Candle Holders:
Driftwood
Paint
Taper Candles
Awl Driftwood Candle Holder
Try to find driftwood that is flat so that your candles do not roll around. I purchased driftwood from online but if you live near a beach, it would add a nice personal touch to find the driftwood yourself. I painted my driftwood pieces with simple geometric designs to add a bit of color and contrast. Driftwood Candle Holder
Use an awl to carefully create a small hole for your candle. Make sure to choose a thicker section of the driftwood so your candle will have support. If you do not plan on using your driftwood candle more than once you can add a bit of hot glue to the bottom of your candle for extra support. Driftwood Candle Holder Driftwood Candle Holder
And there you have it! In just a few short steps you have a unique and coastal DIY driftwood candle holder!Driftwood Candle Holder

Bright Winter Flower Recipe

January 14, 2015

I don’t know about you but the winter blues have sure set in for me. With all of these chilly, grey days my home needed a spot of color to pick me up. Today’s winter flower recipe is the perfect bit of sunshine to brighten up your winter home and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner this simple DIY is the perfect centerpiece for all of your parties and themed wedding showers.B_001 Step One: When designing your centerpiece pick vases in different sizes and colors to add character. These light pink mercury vessels and lavender themed nightfall votives from BHLDN are a perfect choice as their different shades add dimension. By using vessels of different colors you can use less florals, keeping your centerpiece budget-friendly. You can even leave some of them empty like I did, letting the beauty of the votives stand-alone. B_003 Step Two: Fill the vases with greenery. I used flat fern, seeded eucalyptus and Italian ruscus. To create this textured look use a minimum of 3 types of greenery. B_002 Step Three: Add in your main flowers keeping the boldest color in the center. Arrange the flowers low and close together to allow the greenery to fan out, creating a looser look. I used peonies, lisianthus and spray roses for my main flowers. B_004B_005 Step Four: Fill in any gaps with another, smaller bud. I added in a bit of waxflower at this stage. B_0062B_007B_008 And there you have it! As you can see the BHLDN vessels look just as nice with flowers in them or empty supporting the main floral piece. B_009B_010

Happy Weekend! I don’t know about you, but I sure have been to a lot of holiday parties this week and I don’t hate it! I’d have to say my favorite was a candle making event at Candlefish. They hosted several Charleston bloggers in their Wentworth shop to make holiday scented candles. Not only was their shop adorable and completely festive but we learned how to make soy based candles and left with two professional looking candles – perfect, one to keep and one to gift! If you are interested in signing up for one of their upcoming classes they are offering a special 20% discount if you use the code “CHASBLOGGER14.” So check out their class schedule by visiting their site here!
