With it’s endless views of turquoise waters surrounded by swaying palms the Longboat Key Club was the perfect location for Cristina and Chris’ destination wedding. Swanky Soiree brought the brides wedding day vision to life with string lights, lanterns, and pops of gold and turquoise details. You will be blown away by the stunning ceremony arch created by Flowers by Fudgie absolutely bursting in florals.
How did you meet? Chris and I met at work actually. Truth be told, I hated the job but stuck it out because I was stubborn. I’ll never forget the first day we met because I texted my mom the very next day excited to share all about the handsome blue eyed and dimpled new colleague on my project. We were friends for awhile before it turned romantic which gave us a strong foundation to build upon.
What is your proposal story? Our proposal story was very us. I think we would both consider ourselves private people and the idea of a public proposal in front of people we didn’t know made me anxious. I didn’t want to share our moment with anyone. It happened on Friday January 27, 2017 when I walked in the door from work. Our entire apartment had been transformed with lights, rose petals and candles all leading out to our back patio where he was waiting by our roaring fire pit with dinner. I don’t even remember everything he said but just was overwhelmed with happiness. I didn’t cry because I was so shocked. I wasn’t expecting it, even though I knew we were headed there. Chris had listened to me. He knew me to know the perfect proposal. I of course said yes!
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding: Our vision for the wedding was simple, classic and elegant. I wanted gold accents, lights, lanterns, and beautiful flowers with pops of colors. I wanted an outdoor ceremony which made South Beach at LBKC perfect. It was more private. The view was too beautiful to cover with a tent. And I envisioned lights hung throughout the property with paper lanterns hung around as well. Our wedding was a destination wedding which kept it more intimate and I loved being able to spend time with all of our guests.
What were your favorite parts of the day? My favorite part was our ceremony. The rain held off until the evening so we were able to have the ceremony on the beach under an archway of flowers and surrounded by our closest friends. A close friend of ours performed the ceremony and he nailed it. It was warm, personal, romantic, and funny. All the things we wanted. I’ll never forget how I felt walking down the aisle. It is one of the moment I will remember the rest of my life. I had my father by my side passing the torch to my new protector.
Our first look was also a favorite moment. All that planning and effort was over and I got to see Chris for the first time in his beautiful Black Lapel custom suit that made his blue eyes even bluer.
