Looking at the blue water in these engagement photos it’s easy to mistake this shoot for the Bahamas or Florida, but you will be surprised to learn these images were taken in Virginia Beach! David Abel Weddings captured Megan and Chase’s love and ease together to perfection and created photos that will remind them of this special moment forever. How did you meet? We met at a mutual friend’s bonfire in the winter of 2008, and didn’t think much of it. He was home from Lynchburg College for winter break and I was spending my weekend with friends before starting my spring semester in my senior year of high school. Although we continued to cross paths during college breaks over the years, our love story finally sparked in the summer of 2015 when Chase asked me to join him for a night out on the town in Richmond. We had our first date at a beer and wine market, where we exchanged many laughs and flirtatious banter! After months of traveling to and from Richmond several times a week to accommodate my school schedule, Chase and I made our relationship official! We discovered a mutual love for family, cooking, food (especially seafood), sports, travel, spontaneous beach trips, and the rest is history! What is your proposal story? We flew to Seattle, Washington this past July to board a week long Alaskan cruise. After landing in Seattle, we went to lunch at Daniel’s Broiler on Lake Union. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the lake and watched seaplanes land in the water next to the beautiful yachts and sailboats. We thought this would be a perfect photo-op so we hurried down to the end of the dock to take pictures. All of the sudden, during our photo-op, he stepped away, dropped to his knee (completely took me by surprise) and proposed. I kept yelling “stop” and backed away (almost falling off the dock) in disbelief that he could surprise in such a way. Until I saw the actual diamond ring in his hands, I thought it was all a big hoax. We then spent the evening enjoying champagne over dinner, walking through the sites of Seattle, and exploring the Space Needle. He planned it so perfectly because for the next 7 days, we could set sail, relax, and celebrate our engagement as we cruised through several sites in Alaska and Canada.Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories: To accompany the vision of our blush wedding, Chase and I chose to wear neutral and blush colors at our beach engagement shoot with David Abel. He wore rolled up light tan khakis with a light pink button down shirt, and I wore a cream and blush floral maxi dress. During the shoot, David had us utilize every inch of that private portion of Lynnhaven Beach, including the sand dunes, beach access walkway, and we even jumped into the water! The shoot was planned for the evening as the sun was setting over the bay. Our outfits worked out wonderfully and allowed us to be ourselves while enjoying the evening together.
