A reader recently reached out to me for advice on what to wear to their daughters beach wedding and it got me thinking about how difficult beach weddings are to dress for. Beach weddings are unique because they are a formal event in a casual environment and that is a tricky thing to dress for! In addition, it is really hard to find wedding attire when you are the mother or grandmother. Often the clothes don’t fit great, they are boring colors, or they are just too formal. Today I’m going to share what to wear to a beach wedding as the mother of the bride.
In addition to Coastal Bride I am a family beach photographer so I have a lot of experience on giving advice on what to wear for beach photos. The most important thing to keep in mind when choosing your attire for a beach wedding is the color. Dark colors like black look way too formal in a beach setting. I highly suggest choosing pastels or cream tones as these colors look beautiful against white sand and blue water.
